Throughout '1999' there are a range of inter textual references of events that occurred in 1999 (click on the photo to see the reference). Along with having inspiration from this video, there are techniques from other videos that I particularly like. For example, in a previous video created by a former student, the camera focuses on a photo before getting 'flung' into it making it alive. I want to do this in terms of 1990's posters and then the camera zooms into the poster, making it come alive and recreate the scene form that specific title.
However, in my video, I want to keep some modern references to contrast the 2 eras against each other. Like I said in my ideas, I want 1999 to be glorified as a place people want to go back to. The video will feature people who are stressed from different events (studying/work/home) and then flashback or transport them to 1999 to relieve themselves of their troubles and enjoy themselves. In my video, I want to portray a fun time between 2 friends and the difference between present time and the past (present being boring and serious compared to the past which was fun and laid back). I am going to use transitions that help with the flow of the video like in this music video (titanic/matrix/mtv awards scene) where transitions come from the side which follows the cameras movement, helping with a continuous flow.
